Living Your Best Summer Life, Part 1: 6 Essential Patio Happy Hours

Summa-summa-summatime! It’s OFFICIALLY summer! We’re giving you the guide to live your best summer Happy Hour life, and there’s no better place to start than with patio Happy Hours. Cheers to soaking up every minute of  sunshine with some of DC’s best patio happy hours, drink in-hand, of course.

The Haps: $6 cocktails, beer, and wine: $2 empanadas

There is legit nothing not to love about happy hour at Colada Shop. From the moment you walk up, you’ll be sucked into the sidewalk patio vibes and perfect pastels. It’s fast casual Cuban fare and cocktails, and that means you get your drinks hella fast. Hells yes. The cocktails are all rum based and delish, and just $6 each on HH. We’re big fans of the Cascara Old Fashioned (aged dark rum, cascara syrup, house coffee bitters) and the Piña Coladas (classic, with a hefty pour of white rum).

After HH, the drinks are still reasonably priced at just $8, so don’t be surprised if you’re chilling out on this comfy casual patio all night long. No judgment.

Enjoy a happy hour beer, wine, or cocktail while taking in the sunshine and enjoying fantastic people watching along 18th street.

Must do: Order a burger to go alongside your happy hour beverage. The Alfie’s Bun with gouda, runny egg, pickled beetroot, pineapple, grilled red onion, arugula, & lucky sauce is a Happied favorite!

The Haps: Half of select cider, beer, wine, cocktails, and vermouth | All pintxos $1 off (when ordering 3 or more)

ANXO Cidery and Pintxos Bar has a happy hour that is short but mighty. We love their beautiful patio, where, during happy hour, all pintxos (aka bite-sized snacks) are $1 off (when ordering 3 or more), and select cider, beer, wine, cocktails, and vermouth are ½ off! If you’re thinking about the cider, do it. They are a cidery, after all! Some of our favorite pintxos are the braised short rib montadito and mushrooms tartlette with Manchego cheese & caramelized onions.
