Harvesty Happy Hours – The Best HHs for Fall in DC

The leaves are turning colors, pumpkin spice-flavored everything is back in vogue and plaid patterned clothing is out in full force – fall has officially arrived to DC. What better way to celebrate than with seasonal drinks? Catch these Harvesty Happy Hours before it’s too late!

Both locations of the Balkan-inspired restaurant offer seasonal libations evoking fall flavors on special during happy hour. Pop into the Clarendon offshoot and try the Apple Collins made with gin, apple rhubarb juice, cucumber puree, lime juice and apple bitters or the Mandarin Smash with vodka, muddled mandarins, pomegranate juice, cinnamon syrup and lime juice. Pair these seasonal sippers with hearty bites including Kebabs, Drunken Mussels, and Roasted Beets – all for $5 during happy hour.

Get into the fall spirit at the Cleveland Park bistro. Autumnal cocktails include the Burnt Umber with Bluecoat gin, Braulio, Aperol and Lemon and the Manzanarita, a mix of Lunazul Blanco tequila, apple cider, cinnamon and black pepper (featured cocktails priced at $8 during happy hour). Enjoy these beverages with savory snacks like Deviled Eggs, Salmon Tartare, and a Pork Belly slider – featured cocktails are priced at $8 and bites are priced between $4 and $6 during happy hour.

The snug Ethiopian restaurant and bar tucked right off of U Street is serving up a plethora of seasonal cocktails. Pony up to the bar and try a glass of the Etete Autumn Sangria (malbec, fresh orange juice, cinnamon syrup, triple sec, soda), order the Apple A Day (vodka, green apple juice, fresh lime juice, ginger beer, nutmeg) or sip on the Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned (bourbon, housemade orange maple syrup, Peychaud’s bitters). All speciality cocktails are $6 during happy hour.

The Adams Morgan whiskey bar has a number of fall-inspired cocktails in honor of the fall season. Head upstairs to the Open Air Terrace and try the Spiked Whiskey Cider with Jim Beam Bourbon, apple, spices, and a cinnamon stick (served hot). Usually the drink is $10, but stop by during happy hour and enjoy $2 off hot drinks.

Commissary offers up an amaze happy hour every day of the week in every season. Not to be outdone by itself, the popular Logan Circle gathering spot recently added festive fall cocktails to the HH menu. Pick up a Smokin’ Pumpkins (scotch, lemon, pumpkin spice syrup) or an Apple Cinnamon Old Fashioned (Apple Cinnamon-Infused Bourbon, Bitters, Sugar), each for only six bucks.

To celebrate fall, the fast-casual sausage and beer joint in Shaw has transformed its outdoor patio area into an urban pumpkin patch complete with decor (think pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, straw bales and more) and seasonal beers and cocktails. Enjoy Oktoberfest-style beers, and craft cocktails including a Fresh Fig Margarita, Spiced Pear Bellini, Apple Cider Hot Toddy, and Tangerine Jalapeno Mojito among others. Although technically not on happy hour special, these cocktails are priced at $10 with beers ranging from $5-9 – in our opinion, a reasonable price to take in fall foliage and decor without leaving the city.
