Your local, super-casual neighborhood bar. I come here with my soccer team for Happy Hour every Tuesday, and even post-playing-a-game-of-soccer we feel right at home. Happy hour goes until 8pm, which is always a huge plus to have that extra hour. HH highlights include $2.50 Tall Boys, $4.50 premium beers, $4 rails, and WINGS! 6 wings for $4, 12 wings for $7, or 24 wings for $12! Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Pro tip: Head in on Wednesdays for extended happy hour until 10pm!
Bourbon & burgers. It’s a pairing that hits the spot with the perfect combination of juicy meat, satisfying bread, and boozy…booze. During happy hour, select whiskeys are $5 and burgers and sliders are half-price. Try the Mushroom & Swiss Burger with truffle aioli & hand-cut fries. Full price is $15, making it yours for less than 8 bucks during HH. Not feeling whiskey? Enjoy $2 off drafts and $4 off specialty cocktails too!
Jack Rose is a nice drink place. It’s great for a date or a classy yet casual evening. It’s two levels, with the dining saloon on first floor and the open-air second floor (don’t worry, it’s enclosed when it’s cold). The 2nd floor is a bit more casual and has TVs for some sports watching too. Happy hour is at the bar on the first level, and in all of the second level. Celebrate your week nights here with $2 off all 20 draft beers, $2 off wine, and $2 off hot cocktails. The cocktails rotate, but right now they are Spiked Whiskey Cider with Jim Beam bourbon, apple, spices and a cinnamon stick, and Irish Coffee with Jameson caskmates, coffee and whipped cream. Don’t those sound perfectly warm & cozy right now?? While sipping, make sure to order some half-priced bites, like crispy chicken skins, fried mac & cheese with truffle mayonnaise, burrata, or whiskey wings.
Mellow mushroom may be a chain, but you’d never know it from visiting the Adam’s Morgan location. Known for their pizzas and craft beer, this 3-level hotspot is casual, welcoming, and offers happy hour throughout the entire restaurant! Head to level 3—the roof—for a cozy atmosphere complete with a covered bar area and uncovered string-light-adorned area that is great for groups or small parties alike. Happy hour drinks include $2 off all 24 draft beers, $5 wines, & $5 well liquors. To soak up the alcohol, order $3 cheese bread and $4 bruschetta. Plus on Mondays, bottles of wine are ½ price, and Wednesdays nights feature ½ price wings. Try the Thai Chili wings—finger-lickin’ good.
Pro tip: On Fridays, head to the 2nd floor for happy hour all night!
Go to Perry’s for sushi happy hour. Their more basic rolls like crunchy shrimp and spicy tuna are 2 for $10 (normally about $7 each, making it about $2 off per roll). If you, like me, love those fancier rolls, you can order the Phoenix Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, & avocado), Crunchy Tiger Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy salmon, & tempura flakes for that crunch), and/or the Element Roll (yellowtail, avocado, tempura flakes, tobiko, serrano, & kabayaki sauce) each for only $10 (normally ~$15)! Combine that sushi goodness with a glass or wine, sake, or rail cocktail for $4, or the Caipirinha or cocktail of the day for $7, and you are in for a complete happy hour experience.
This is your oyster happy hour spot. $1 each for select oysters, which is pretty much the best price you can hope to find in DC. To wash ‘em down, enjoy a $5 glass of wine or rail drink, or a $2-off draft beer. Not sure what kind of oysters to order? At the most basic, East coast oysters are brinier (saltier) than those from the West coast. Beyond that, your server or bartender will happily tell you about the oysters offered! And while you can eat oysters any time of year, some say they are best when consumed in the cooler months, aka the months that have the letter “r” in them. Quite perfect since the upcoming months are NovembeR, DecembeR, JanuaRy, FebRuaRy, etc…
This is a happenin’ place. Roofers Union is hip, it’s popular, you might run into someone you know. It’s 3 levels—level 1 is wine bar Jug & Table; level 2 boasts floor-to-ceiling windows in the open dining room / bar space; and level 3 is the open-air roof with views of 18th street and beyond. Happy hour takes place at the 2nd floor bar. Pull up a seat and sip on $3 local drafts or $5 wines, rails, and punch. To go with those beverages, how about srircha honey wings for 5 bucks (normally $10) or the French onion dip & chips for $4 (normally $7)! There are other snacks on HH too.
On the first floor, Jug & Table (true to its name) is serving up 1/2 off JUGS of wine on its HH menu. That’s a whole 12 glasses served in an insta-worthy glass jug at an amazing deal. You can also grab $5 elevated well drinks featuring Sobieski vodka and Old Overholt rye whiskey, $5 select wines, and $3 beers.
Pro tip: Tuesday is Geek Night, when all cellar beers are 50% off, and Wednesday night wine bottles (and jugs at Jug & Table) are 50% off. PLUS these specials are offered in the whole 2nd floor dining room, all night!
Southern Hospitality is true to its name, providing you with a warm, Southern vibe. Their happy hour welcomes you in with $5 drafts, wine, and rail drinks. Plus, there are specials offered each day. Mondays & Thursdays = ½ price wine bottles, all night. On Tuesdays, happy hour lasts all night! Wednesdays are your nights to get your taco fix–feast on $2 tacos and $6 margaritas to go with them. Finally, Friday, the day we all count down to, happy hour starts at 11:30am and lasts all day until 8:00pm—perfect for your long weekend.
